Medicare Guidance Made Simple
Medicare has a lot of choices. You only need the one that fits your life.
Original Medicare, Medicare Advantage, Medigap, Part D — it’s a lot to sort out on your own. I compare plans from multiple major carriers to help you land on the coverage that actually fits your health, your lifestyle, and your budget.
Your advocate, not a corporate sales rep.
The Fork in the Road: Two Paths to Coverage
Every Medicare journey comes down to one fundamental choice. Once you understand these two paths, the rest of Medicare becomes crystal clear.

Path 1: Build Your Own Coverage
Medicare Supplement (also known as Medigap)
Every Medicare journey comes down to one fundamental choice. Once you understand these two paths, the rest of Medicare becomes crystal clear.
- Original Medicare (Parts A & B): Your core hospital and medical coverage, provided straight from the federal government.
- + Medigap (Supplement): Private insurance that steps in to pay the copays, coinsurance, and deductibles that Original Medicare leaves behind.
- + Part D Plan: A standalone plan to cover your prescription medications.
The Big Benefit: Freedom. You can see any doctor or visit any hospital in the country that accepts Medicare. No network hassles, no referrals needed.

Path 2: The All-In-One Alternative
Medicare Advantage (also known as Medicare Part C)
- Bundled Coverage: A private health plan that acts as an alternative to Original Medicare, administering your benefits through a private insurer and bundling Parts A, B, and usually Part D into one single plan (MAPD)
- Added Extras: Many plans include extra benefits not covered by Original Medicare, such as dental, vision, hearing, or fitness memberships.
- Network-Based: Typically features lower monthly premiums, but you generally must use a specific network of local doctors and hospitals.
The Big Benefit: Predictable cost structures and convenient, bundled perks in a single plan.
Neither path is "better" than the other. The right choice depends entirely on your health history, your preferred doctors, your travel habits, and your budget.

- Special Enrollment Period: Triggered by major life changes, such as moving to a new county, losing employer coverage, or leaving a union plan.
